Tianxian Palace

Tianxian Temple is located at the very top of Longzaiding on Heping Island (formerly Sheliaozhuang), Keelung. Its origins trace back to the mid-Qing Dynasty, when the three Xie brothers, surnamed Xie, brought the statue of Wu Xianling Guan Dadi from Ninghai, Zhejiang to Pengjia Island. Shortly after, it was moved to its current location on the island, nearly two hundred years ago. During the Japanese occupation, the temple was demolished and its deities removed, forcing the temple to relocate. After World War II, with the increasing number of believers, the temple faced financial constraints and could not afford to hire laborers. Relying solely on the enthusiasm and hard work of the committee members and believers, a wooden temple was finally completed.

Several years later, through the collective wisdom and efforts of the committee members and many devout believers, the original temple was transformed into a magnificent and resplendent palace. In 1987, a self-governing management committee was established for the temple; in 1996, this committee was renamed the Tianxian Palace Management Committee. To promote the divine power and compassionate deeds of Wuxian Dadi, the temple established two branch temples in 1989 and 1990 respectively: the Chiayi Dalin Wufu Palace (now Dalin Tianxian Palace) and the Taichung Wufeng Tianxian Palace.
