The South Plaza is the result of countless hours of meticulous discussion and refinement by the city government and the Railway Bureau. In order to take another big step forward in the transformation of Keelung's landscape, the South Plaza will become an important commuting route for citizens and will also host many events to encourage young people to return to their hometown and see that "Keelung is different now".
The entrances and exits of the South Station are designed to resemble a miniature Taipei City Hall transfer station, including a taxi service area, an internal shopping mall, elevators, two escalators, and a canopy above the platform. In the future, vehicles picking up and dropping off passengers can drive directly to the platform below the South Square of the train station, so that passengers will no longer get wet in the rain when getting on and off.
