Ciyun Temple

Founded in the second year of the Guangxu Emperor's reign (1876 AD), this temple boasts a history of over a century. Although nestled in an alley, it is one of the most popular temples in the area. The main deity is Guanyin (Avalokitesvara), and its exterior is exquisitely designed. The rear hall, however, is resplendent in gold and quite grand. It also enshrines the Old Man Under the Moon, the Goddess of Childbirth, and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. In front of the rear hall is a beautifully carved stone wall depicting Guanyin, from which water flows. Devotees consider this nectar and drink it from paper cups for good fortune—a truly unique practice. Its efficacy is renowned, attracting followers from all over the northern counties, cities, and towns. The area is named Buddha Ridge, the village Ciyun, the alley Guanyin, and the newly established community Ciren, all reflecting the deep reverence it inspires.
