Jiangziliao Mountain, also known as Sanjiaojia Mountain or Shikong Dalun, is a towering peak belonging to the Wufenshan Mountain Range. Located at the junction of Keelung City, Xizhi District and Pingxi District of New Taipei City, it has an altitude of 729 meters, making it the highest peak in Keelung and one of Taiwan's Lesser 100 Peaks. It boasts beautiful scenery and a wide view from its summit. Because there were many Qiang tribes in the area in the past, hunters built huts here to hunt them, hence the name "Jiangziliao Mountain".
In recent years, the Keelung City Government has developed a new hiking trail on Jiangziliao Mountain. What was originally a mountain path covered with reeds has been transformed with the addition of sleeper trails. Chairs have also been placed on both sides for resting. The 360-degree panoramic view from the summit is extremely rare in the northern mountainous areas, making it a favorite hiking spot for many hikers.
The Jiangziliao Mountain Trail boasts beautiful scenery and a rich and interesting ecosystem of flora and fauna. Along the access road to the mountain, you'll pass several farmhouses and streams, each with its own unique charm. When the flowers bloom along the trail, their petals scattered on the path create a picturesque scene. The trail has varying slopes, with the steepest part starting about 200 meters before reaching the summit, hence its nickname "Hero's Slope." However, after passing Hero's Slope, you'll reach the beautiful summit, evoking the feeling of "No pain, no gain."
The Keelung City Government has set up observation decks in all four directions on the mountaintop, offering excellent views of Taipei, Pingxi, and the mountains and streets of Keelung. On a clear day, you can even see the Grand Hotel and Taipei 101. It is a great place for the whole family to visit. However, the round trip to the top takes about 2 hours, so you need to consider whether your walking speed and physical strength can handle it. Also, there are many places without shade along the trail, so it is best to hike in the early morning when it is cooler.
Jiangziliao Mountain Trail boasts lush green mountains and clear waters, making it a great choice for experiencing the beauty of Qidu. In addition, the "Tai'an Waterfall" on the mountainside is a great place to enjoy a natural forest bath and play in the water. There are also many leisure farms to choose from in the Malingkeng and Youna areas of Qidu, which can be planned for recreation at the same time.
