Nuandong Nursery is located at No. 12, Nuandongding Road. Due to its unique climate, it boasts a diverse ecological environment with abundant flora and fauna, making it a fascinating forest bathing spot. Stepping into the nursery, the air is filled with a refreshing scent, and the lush greenery soothes the visitor's soul.
Since 1995, the Keelung City Government has been operating the Nuandong Nursery, focusing on nature education and seedling cultivation. The nursery's ecological exhibition hall features various themed exhibits, while the nature trails, paved with discarded railway sleepers, add to its pristine natural beauty. This comprehensive planning sets the Nuandong Nursery apart from other recreational attractions.
Inside the service center, friendly guides with smiles introduce every plant and object, making you eager to come and "breathe in the forest." Nuandong Nursery is a low-altitude natural broad-leaved forest. Due to its high humidity and abundant rainfall, which are characteristic of a marine-moderated climate, it has nurtured an extremely complex and rich flora and fauna landscape.
Nuandong Nursery features both natural forests, such as Machilus thunbergii and Pterocarya stenoptera, and planted forests, such as Acacia confusa and Cryptomeria japonica. With at least 300 plant species, over 200 butterfly species, and many other organisms, it is not only a rare oasis near Keelung offering opportunities to enjoy trees, birdwatching, and butterfly watching, but also a wonderful place for the public to connect with nature and appreciate flowers and birds, and a natural classroom for schools to conduct ecological education.
In addition, in July 2009, the "Nuannuan Suspension Bridge" connecting Nuannuan Sports Park and Nuandong Nursery was officially completed and opened to the public. People and tourists can cross the Nuandong Nursery and Nuannuan Sports Park via this suspension bridge with local characteristics.
