Nuandong Canyon is located in Dongshikeng, Nuannuan District, Keelung City. The canyon has a complete forest landscape, is unpolluted, and has a clear stream that flows year-round, making it a great place for leisure.
The annual rainfall at Huoshaoliao, upstream of Nuandong Canyon, is the highest in Taiwan. The Dongshikeng River has carved out the canyon terrain, and due to the drop in elevation, the canyon terrain is quite distinct and the scenery is magnificent. Although the canyon is not large, it is unique and majestic, and the stream water is very clear. The cool stream water attracts many people to play in the water in summer.
The Nuandong Canyon Park features two trails, one on each side of a stream. One trail follows the cliff face, offering spectacular views of the cliffs and the vegetation growing on them. The other trail runs along the stream, with babbling brooks and delicate scenery. Both trails have their own unique charm and offer viewing pavilions along the way, providing excellent vantage points for appreciating waterfalls and the canyon's topography. The park's trails are lush with trees and flowers, creating a natural trail environment where visitors can carefully observe the beauty of insects and plants. Dragonflies, damselflies, and purple whistling thrushes flit through the clear stream. In summer, the cool, clear water attracts many visitors to play in the water and catch fish and shrimp, creating a lively atmosphere.
