Indigenous Peoples Association

The Keelung Indigenous Peoples' Association is located at the Bazhimen Bridgehead in Zhongzheng District. It was officially completed and opened in April 2005. The association is a five-story building with one basement level, with a total floor area of approximately 770 ping (approximately 163 square meters). The space is planned as follows: the first floor is an activity center, the second floor is a nursery or educational and research facility, the third and fourth floors are an exhibition room for indigenous cultural relics and a small briefing and meeting room, and the fifth floor has five temporary accommodation suites and a viewing balcony.
The Indigenous Peoples' Hall houses over two hundred artifacts from various indigenous groups, including clothing, hunting tools, bamboo weaving, wood carvings, beadwork, musical instruments, and pottery—a diverse collection of traditional Indigenous daily necessities and artworks. Behind the hall is the Indigenous Cultural Plaza, adjacent to the Indigenous Seaside Residences. This open-air themed plaza park covers approximately two hectares. Because 60% of the plaza is steep hillside, it utilizes the terrain to create two elevated plazas connected by a suspension bridge, symbolizing "communication." Both plazas feature observation decks offering excellent views of Keelung Harbor and Keelung Island. The larger eastern plaza features a wooden walkway, stone houses, a wood carving artifact exhibition hall, an outdoor performance area, and nine 2.2-meter-high carved wooden pillars representing the nine indigenous tribes of Taiwan at the time of its construction.
The west side of the association building features newly completed public facilities, including a stone sculpture with the association building entrance, paved floor tiles, an ice rink, sculptures of the twelve ethnic groups, a vendor area, and a parking lot, providing the public with a high-quality space for leisure.
