Located on Zhongyi Road in front of Keelung Railway Station, the "Ocean Plaza" officially opened on August 19, 2009. It mainly consists of a newly built 15 to 30-meter-wide wooden platform in the inner waters of Keelung Harbor, with a total area of 5,000 square meters. The plaza features wooden reefs, wave-shaped rain shelters with ocean imagery, and a large colorful LED lettering of "Keelung". It allows domestic and foreign tourists to experience the charm of Keelung day and night. At the same time, it also features a unique glass bridge, which is rare in Taiwan, connecting the city's attractions.
Because Keelung is surrounded by the sea on three sides, with its harbor extending into the city, the city government plans to build a marine plaza on the harbor side of Zhongyi Road. The wooden boardwalk will feature a variety of wooden reefs and wave-shaped landscape art pieces, conveying a rich marine imagery and serving both landscaping and recreational functions. At night, the lights and the sea reflect each other, and people stroll leisurely in twos and threes in this beautiful scenery.
Located on the shores of Keelung Harbor, this area is a popular spot for boats of all sizes to come and go, including massive container ships, warships guarding the waters, and dockworkers. Among these, the cruise ships are particularly eye-catching, attracting many tourists to take photos. Additionally, it's a great place to watch eagles soar and hunt. When the northeast monsoon blows, more than ten eagles can be seen circling above Keelung Harbor, creating a spectacular sight.
Ocean Plaza is located in front of Keelung Railway Station, near the bus terminal and city bus terminal, making it very convenient to get to. This has amazed many tourists who have just gotten off the train, and has attracted many tourists and locals to visit. As Ocean Plaza’s reputation has spread, not only domestic tourists but also foreign tourists have come to visit. Every day, you can see a large number of people coming and going, which adds a lot of liveliness and popularity to Ocean Plaza.
